State High Court Dismisses Candidate’s Challenge

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah Supreme Court says it has dismissed a case recently filed by Congressional Candidate Colby Jenkins. Jenkins was seeking a ruling from the high court that would allow the counting of ballots postmarked after the June primary deadline. The court ruled Jenkins failed to adequately present his constitutional challenge to the Utah Code which requires a ballot must be clearly postmarked before election day. Jenkins’ suit argued that more than eleven-hundred ballots were rejected because of a late postmark. Jenkins was running for the 2nd Congressional District in the Republican primary, which covers St. George.
