(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah state auditor says only a few complaints out of thousands submitted merited action for supposed violations of the state’s new transgender-exclusionary public restroom law. State Auditor John Dougall says his office has identified five that required attention. Dougall also notes he’s not happy about taking on the role of Utah’s “bathroom monitor.” The new law mandates that his office run the online complaint portal for those who want to report state facilities that are not in compliance. After the law took effect, the tip line was bombarded by more than 12-thousand often frivolous or even fake complaints.
