(Salt Lake City, UT) — Several state agencies are urging Utahns to be wildfire aware following a series of weekend fires along Interstate 80 west of Salt Lake City. The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands says warm, dry conditions make it likely that any human-caused fire could spread quickly over a wide area. The Utah Highway Patrol is also urging drivers to make sure vehicles are well-maintained to keep sparks from getting into dry brush and grass. They also warn that cigarette butts flicked from car windows can also spark dangerous wildfires.
