St. George man dies after stoking fire with gasoline

(St. George, UT) — A St. George man is dead after pouring gasoline into a fire pit.

St. George police say the man was found next to a car Wednesday night suffering from extensive burns.

Investigators say the victim decided to use gasoline to stoke the fire, causing it to spread to his arms and clothes.

Despite rolling on the ground, the man could not extinguish the flames. Emergency crews who responded were able to put the fire out with a garden hose.

He died from his injuries after being taken to a local hospital.
