Snow College commencements scheduled for Friday and Saturday

Snow College will hold graduation ceremonies at its Richfield and Ephraim campuses Friday and Saturday. Snow is looking at the largest graduating class ever, with 1,065 students receiving degrees. The graduates in the Class of 2017 represent 23 nations, and students will be presented with 1,116 degrees.

The Richfield graduation will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Sevier Valley Center. Doors will open at noon. Speaking at the ceremony will be Tami Pyfer, Education Adviser to Governor Gary Herbert. President Gary Carlston will bestow an honorary degree on Verla Sorensen for herself and her deceased husband, David Sorensen. The Sorensens have donated much of their time and resources to the Richfield campus, particularly benefiting the nursing program. There will be a reception for graduates and their family following the presentation of diplomas.

The Ephraim graduation will be held Saturday in the activity center. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., and tickets are required for entrance to the ceremony. The processional will begin at 9:30 with graduation beginning at 10 a.m. Lt. Governor Spencer Cox will deliver the commencement address, and he and his wife, Abby, will receive honorary degrees. As well, President of the Snow College Foundation, Mark Stoddard, and his wife LeAnn will also be presented with honorary degrees. Representing the Class of 2017 will be Valedictorian Bryce Sorenson of Gunnison and Jessica Guymon Cox, Salutatorian.
