The BLM, Richfield Field Office is taking advantage of some winter storms with a controlled burn. In a news release it was shared that 40 acres of mechanical slash piles would be burned on Mar. 30 on the Lone Cedar project, located approximately seven miles west of Gunnison in Sanpete County. Fire managers called the conditions that day prime to reduce hazardous fuels across the landscape. Smoke will likely be visible in surrounding areas and is anticipated to impact those areas for a few days. This is one of seven controlled burns to start on Mar. 30 in Utah.
