Sisters killed in flash flooding at Utah Canyon identified

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police are identifying two young sisters who died in flash flooding that sent torrents of water roaring into a narrow canyon in the Utah desert. Authorities said Thursday that 7-year-old McKinzley and 3-year-old Elexia Graff were hiking with their mother and uncle in Little Wildhorse Canyon when a fierce storm blew through Monday afternoon, authorities said. Their father was waiting at the trailhead parking lot and saw his daughter as she was swept downstream. He tried to resuscitate her, but she died at the scene. Elexia was spotted by a helicopter during a search and rescue operation the next day.
