Sevier County Sheriff speaks against intolerance following protests over the weekend

Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis visited KSVC studios on Monday and spoke out against intolerance following violence and at least one death in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend.

“We really need to be absolutely clear that we don’t tolerate people treating other people just different because of their skin or anything like that,” Curtis says. “That’s something we don’t put up with.”

Curtis says that although there are a lot of people from different backgrounds in Central Utah, the community is safe.

“I don’t think they need to worry so much here. As long as people are obeying the law, we’re not going to worry about them,” Curtis says. “I guess that’s the thing I always tell people, ‘as long as you’re not breaking the law, you don’t have nothing to worry about.'”
