Senator Lee Tells DOJ To Leave Protesting Parents Alone

(Washington, DC) — Utah Senator Mike Lee is joining a group of Republican colleagues in asking the Department of Justice to stay out of fights between parents and local school boards. Lee and 11 other GOP senators sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland yesterday saying the DOJ should not be “policing” the ability of parents to protest issues such as mask mandates and the teaching of critical race theory. Congressman Burgess Owens signed a similar letter sent by Republicans in the House. Garland has directed the FBI to work with local officials nationwide to address an increase in threats and harassment of local educators and school board members.
