(Washington, DC) – Republican Senator Mitt Romney is pushing the Biden Administration to get fighter jets to Ukraine as the country tries to repel Russian invaders. On Wednesday, the Pentagon rejected an idea from Poland that would send MiG fighter jets from that country to the Ukrainian military. Pentagon officials called the idea “not tenable,” noting that the jets would be sent to a U.S. military base in Germany before they were flown into Ukraine, and into contested airspace. Senator Romney lambasted that decision, saying it did not make sense why the U.S. wasn’t trying to get the MiGs to Ukraine immediately.
