(Washington, DC) – Senator Mike Lee says President Trump should pick former U.S. Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland to head the FBI. The Republican senator from Utah made the suggestion via Twitter this morning, while commenting on the investigation into potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. Lee said Trump should appoint Garland to replace recently-fired James Comey instead of appointing a special prosecutor for the probe. Garland was President Obama’s pick to fill a vacancy on the court, but Republicans blocked his nomination.Â
