(Washington, DC) — Senator Mike Lee is joining a group of Senate Republicans who plan to threaten a federal government shutdown over the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement for private businesses. According to Politico, Lee and Republicans will drag their feet on a stopgap measure to keep the government funded past Friday, unless Democrats remove funding for enforcement for the mandate. Under the administration’s plan, businesses with more than one-hundred workers must either require them to get the COVID-19 vaccine or undergo regular testing. Businesses that don’t comply face steep fines.
