Governor elect Spencer Cox has announced more senior cabinet members ahead of his January 4 inauguration, including Sanpete County Sheriff Brian Nielson, who will be heading the Utah Department of Corrections.  The Utah Senate will have to confirm many of the appointments before they can begin their administrative duties.

Nielson has served as the Sanpete County Sheriff since January 2011 and is a Sanpete County native.

Governor elect Cox said he’s convinced each of the candidates will serve the citizens of Utah well. He stated, “Each has impeccable qualifications, brings fresh ideas and, most importantly, is devoted to public service. We’re lucky to have such brilliant minds willing to serve the public.”
