(Washington, DC) — Utah Senator Mitt Romney believes the U.S. made the right decision to wait and shoot down the Chinese surveillance balloon. Following a classified briefing on China, Romney told reporters he believes President Biden and the military acted skillfully and with care in handling the balloon that flew over the U.S. last week. His comments are a break from most Republicans who say the U.S. should’ve acted sooner. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said the balloon should’ve never “let it into our sovereignty.” The Biden administration decided against shooting the balloon down over concerns it could hurt people on the ground and after determining it wasn’t an immediate threat. The balloon was brought down near the Carolina coast Saturday.
