Teachers at Richfield High School are being trained in what to do in case of an attack or active shooter.
On Monday in the school’s library, teachers and administrators gathered for a training on strategies to survive from the Utah Department of Public Safety, the Highway Patrol Training Division.
Training included ways to help save time and, hopefully lives, by running, hiding and fighting during an attack.
According to Richfield High Principal Brent Gubler, teachers had been asking for more training on what to do after recent news of shooters around the world.
Jason Butler, the FFA adviser at Richfield High says the training has brought a little more ease of thought when it comes to an attack.
“We’re in education,” Butler says. “So it’s great to get this and create a resolution and create an action plan.”
Butler also thanked the administration and officials for recognizing this need and bringing the training.
Following the teacher training, Police practiced an active shooter drill through the school.
