In a post on Facebook on Mar. 19 the Richfield City Police Department announced some changes due to concern over COVID-19. The following changes were announced and have been implemented:
The police department office is closed to the public. It will be staffed and appointments can be made for services such as grama requests, reporting an incident, or sex offender registry.
All non-emergency calls for service will be handled over the phone when possible.
Officers will still be out patrolling and will respond to crimes in progress and any matter that threatens life and safety. Officers will be taking extra precautions when responding to calls for service. They may wait outside your home depending on the nature of the call.
They are actively monitoring for potential cases and exposures.
They are asking you to do your part in limiting exposure to those who may be at risk and to check on your neighbors.
In the post it was stated that these changes will remain in effect until further notice.
