Republicans Pass Calendar Blocking Bill After AG Reyes Case

(Salt Lake City, UT) — State Republicans have passed a bill that will keep state employees calendars private regardless of if it is state business. This comes after a judge ruled that Attorney General Sean Reyes’ state calendars are subject to the open-records law and must be turned over to news outlets. Reyes’ calendar will be unaffected as the lawsuit came before the law was passed. Governor Cox will need to sign the bill into law. It received a two-thirds majority vote making it active immediately and end more than a decade of access.
