(Salt Lake City, UT) — A new report shows a trend of decreasing disciplinary actions taken against Utah students, but a growing racial disparity. The report from Voices for Utah Children and U. researchers shows roughly 30 percent fewer actions including expulsions and suspensions between 2012 and 2014, compared to 2011 and 2012. The report shows more than ten percent of American Indian students were disciplined during the 2012 to 2014 period, compared to five-point-six percent of students of other color. Only two-point-six percent of white students were disciplined.
