Recount Begins Today for 2nd Congressional District

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Republicans in Utah’s 2nd Congressional District are having their primary ballots recounted. The recount is for the race between Congresswoman Celeste Maloy and challenger Colby Jenkins. Election officials say 107-thousand-282 votes were cast either in person or through the mail on June 25th. Just 214 votes separated the two candidates with Maloy having the edge. Jenkins says he formally requested the recount by contacting Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, who oversees the state’s elections. Jenkins asked that his campaign representatives be given “meaningful access” to the recount process. The district covers St. George, Salt Lake City, and more.
