PROVO, Utah (AP) — Prosecutors are asking a judge to allow jurors to read text messages about suicide that a Utah man exchange with a young friend he’s accused of helping to hang herself.
The Deseret News reports investigators said Thursday that they’ve recovered the deleted texts between now-19-year-old Tyerell Przybycien (pro-BISH-ian) and a 16-year-old girl.
A judge has not yet decided whether the texts can be admitted as evidence Przybycien’s trial for murder and other counts.
Prosecutors say Przybycien bought a rope and tied the noose for the teen who hanged herself because he was fascinated with death, telling a friend that helping her would be “like getting away with murder.”
Defense attorneys say girl’s suicide notes show she made the choice herself in May 2017.
