ZION NATIONAL PARK (FOX 13)-Per an official report from FOX 13 in Salt Lake City, one of Zion National Park’s more popular trails will close in October.
Angels Landing Trail, also one of the most heavily-used trails at the national park, will be closed for routine maintenance purposes.
Trail crews will be working on steep terrain on the trail and because of the dangers of falling rocks on the West Rim Trail, the park must close both trails.
Angels Landing will close from Monday October 2 at 7:00 am MDT until Saturday October 7 at 7:00 am MDT.
The West Rim Trail, between the trailhead at the Grotto and Scout Lookout, will also be closed at the same time.
Visitors will not be allowed to pass Scout Lookout until 1:00 pm MDT on October 2. The Kayenta Trail will remain open during this time. Alternate suggested hikes include Observation Point or Hidden Canyon Trails.
During this time, guide posts will be replaced as well as worn sections of chain.
The reshaping of certain steps chiseled into the sandstone and the removal of litter and graffiti, will also occur.
