As the 4th of July holiday approaches, officials are reminding everyone of the rules surrounding fireworks this year.
Fireworks are allowed from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 2 though July 5, with hours extended to midnight July 4.
Richfield City Police Chief Trent Lloyd says people who light off fireworks when they shouldn’t ruin it for everyone.
Lloyd also says he wants to keep a small town atmosphere with the 4th, so people can have a good time, but he still wants people to stay within reason.
“One easy way to get it out of control is to not stick to the window,” Lloyd says.
Lloyd also wants people to be aware of their surroundings and wind conditions when lighting off fireworks.
