(Ephraim, UT) — A bear is safely back in the mountains of central Utah after an assist from the Ephraim Police Department. Officers were notified yesterday about a bear spotted in a cemetery in the city. Callers worried that the bear might be headed toward U.S. Highway 89, where it could be hit by a passing car. Officers stopped traffic on the highway, allowing the bear to cross safely and return to the wild. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is asking all Utahns to be more bear aware because the ongoing drought is forcing the animals to seek food and water outside their natural habitat.
