One person is dead after a chain reaction crash in Sanpete county. Around 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, a Chevrolet Silverado was pulling a boat trailer southbound on U.S. 89 just south of Ephraim. The driver almost missed their turn and attempted to exit onto a side road, causing the truck to slid into a gate, getting stuck. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, another vehicle stopped to help pull the truck and trailer back onto the road.

Once back on the road, the trailer was blocking the northbound lane while a passenger from the Chevrolet was next to it unhooking a chain. A third vehicle traveling northbound saw the trailer in the roadway but could not stop in time pushing it into the individual. They were transported to the hospital with critical injuries and were later pronounced dead. Officials have not released that individuals name at this time.
