Olympic Games Committee Proposes Nearly Three Billion Dollar Budget

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games is moving forward with financial paperwork in hopes of securing a formal bid to host the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. State and city committee members say an almost three-billion dollar operating budget proposal is on its way. The submission represents a promised privately-funded operating budget with monies from commercial and private sources instead of taxpayer dollars. Salt Lake City was named the “preferred host” of these games in November. The estimated operating budget request was contained in a questionnaire presented to the state committee by the International Olympic Committee’s Future Host Commission. Members of the commission toured possible Utah venue sites this past April.
