(Santaquin, UT) — Law enforcement officials and community members are mourning the loss of a Santaquin police officer who was hit and killed by a semi-truck yesterday morning. Police say Sergeant Bill Hooser was run over when a truck driver fled from a traffic stop. Lieutenant Mike Wall of the Santaquin Police Department says the senseless act has hurt the officer’s family and the entire department. In Santaquin, a police car has been designated as a temporary memorial, as residents place flowers on and around the car. Forty-two-year-old Michael Aaron Jayne has been arrested in connection with Hooser’s death.
