(Salt Lake City, UT) — The state’s new road rage law goes into effect on July 1st. The law criminalizes road rage as incidents that occur or are escalated by drivers with the intent to endanger or intimidate an individual in another vehicle. Penalties will soon increase for those convicted of reckless driving like this. What was before a class B misdemeanor will become a class A misdemeanor and other road rage-related charges will move up to become third-degree felonies. The new law increases fines that start at 750 dollars, and can go as high as a thousand dollars. A person convicted of road rage can have their driver’s license revoked and face up to 15 years in jail.
