(Salt Lake City, UT) — There remains bipartisan support for a law, passed by voters in 2018, that bans the so-called gerrymandering of congressional districts. A poll that was commissioned by a group that supports Proposition 4 says nearly two-thirds of voters still approve of the ballot initiative. Better Boundaries says it’s approved by 64-percent of voters and 55-percent of Republicans. The Utah Republican party is trying to get an initiative on the ballot to repeal Prop 4. There’s also a court battle playing out. The GOP wants courts to strike down a judge’s ruling that carved out a Democratic-leaning district in Salt Lake City after ruling a Republican-drawn map was ruled illegal.
