Near head on crash Near Manti

There was a near head on crash reported two miles south of Manti on the afternoon of Aug. 20. According to Utah Highway Patrol a gray Nissan Altima was traveling North on SR-89 near mile post 253. At the same time a white Ford F-150 was traveling south in the same area.

The F-150 crossed over the center line and into the path of the Nissan and the result was a near head on collision. According to UHP, the driver of the Nissan, a 22-year old male, was not wearing a seat belt and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was then taken by helicopter to a trauma center where he later died.

A passenger in the Nissan and the driver of the F-150 were both wearing seat belts and only suffered minor injuries. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
