Multiple Fires Burning in Millard County

Three large fires started in Millard county on July 8, two wildfires and one structure fire. According to Utah Fire Info, the Halfway Hill Fire is burning in the Sand Rock Ridge and Pine Creek area near Filmore. As of the evening of July 8 the fire has burned 425 acres and air resources are working to slow the spread. The cause is still under investigation.

The Dry Creek Fire is burning in the Oak Creek Canyon and Dry Creek area near Oak City. As of the evening of July 8 the fire has burned 1,200 acres. Resources fighting this fire include 15 local fire department and federal engines, two water tenders, one dozer, two road graders, three helicopters and hand crews.

The third fire is burning in the Fillmore Industrial Park where the tire shredding plant is on fire. Resources in the county are spread thin as these fires are in addition to another structure fire that happened earlier in the day. Individuals are being asked to stay away from the areas where these fires are burning.
