Multiple fatalities after plane crash East of Ephraim

UPDATE– The Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the men involved in the plane crash east of Ephraim on Monday.  They are John Weber (63) from Scottsdale, Arizona and Thomas Bjork (66) from Orangevale, California.

Officials have confirmed the crash of a small plane east of Ephraim on Monday afternoon.  The Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office received a report  at 5:11 p.m. that OHV riders had come upon the downed plane.  The small experimental type glider was located about 4 miles northeast of Ephraim.

Two fatalities are confirmed, the male pilot and one passenger, also male.

The plane flew out of Nephi around 3 p.m. and was headed to an aiport near Richfield.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and the names of the victims have not been released pending notification of family.
