Mt. Pleasant boy shot in the head continues to improve

A 10-year old Mt. Pleasant boy is making good improvement after being accidentally shot in the head by his 11-year old cousin. Javon Reese was with his cousin on August 16 when the boys were able to gain access to a .40 caliber handgun stored in a locked gun safe. Javon was shot in the side of the head and transported to Sanpete Valley Hospital. He was subsequently airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital and continues to make steady improvement.

According to Mt. Pleasant Police Chief Jim Wilburg, the families have been very cooperative during the investigation. Officers involved in the investigation remind parents that gun safety should be a high priority, especially where children are involved.
