More than 1,000 Wildlife, Fish Illegally Harvested Last Year

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah Department of Wildlife Resources says there was a decrease in the number of illegally harvested wildlife and fish last year. Officials announced that number in 2023 was more than one-thousand, and had a combined value of about 619-thousand dollars. That includes 133 deer, 150 elk, 11 bison, and seven bears. DWR also mentioned that more than 45-hundred citations were given out for violations last year, several hundred more than in 2022. However, officials noted most of those were for those going hunting or fishing without a license.
