(Sevier and Piute Counties, UT) — The Monroe Canyon Fire has expanded to almost 72-thousand acres nearly a month after igniting, making it the largest wildfire in Utah this year. Authorities say the fire grew by five-thousand acres over the weekend and is 36 percent contained as of this morning. Over 13-hundred firefighters are battling the blaze. It has caused evacuations, power outages, and prompted closures in Fishlake National Forest. Some evacuation orders, including Burrville, have been lifted, while others prepare for potential spread.
