(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Senate candidate Evan McMullin is maintaining his commitment to remain an Independent. Appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press, McMullin stated that he would not caucus with either Republicans or Democrats. He went on to say that he believes it’s something the country “needs” to see. He is trying to unseat former President Trump-endorsed Senator Mike Lee. McMullin also claimed that senators willing to stand up to so-called party bosses “have the most influence in the chamber.” If elected, McMullin would be just one of three Independents in the Senate.
