(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah’s independent candidate for U.S. senator is trying to rally supporters ahead of the November election. Evan McMullin held a rally yesterday at the Impact Hub in downtown Salt Lake City. McMullin called two-term Republican Senator Mike Lee a pretend conservative and criticized him for his initial support of attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. A poll in July showed McMullin trailing Lee by five percentage points, though McMullin’s campaign says the race is much closer than it appears.
