McCay Introduces Bill To Separate Water Usage From Property Taxes

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A state senator wants to encourage greater conservation by making Utahns pay more for water. State Senator Dan McCay of Riverton unveiled a proposal yesterday that would keep the state from paying for water use when it collects property taxes. McCay says his bill will force Utahns to pay for the water they use and penalize those who waste it. State lawmakers plan to talk with local water districts about the bill before it is considered during the next session of the legislature.
