A rancher in Mayfield is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for shooting and killing his family’s livestock.
Mark Mecham of Mayfield said in a Facebook post that his family returned from a happy family occasion Wednesday, October 16 to find their 3-year-old Texas Longhorn bull and a Black Angus steer calf had been shot and killed.
According to KSTU Mecham had checked on the animals when they left their house around 7 pm that Wednesday night. They were on their way to the hospital for the birth of their baby girl, Oakley.
When they returned home he could see two animals not moving and found they animals had struggled on the ground before dying. Upon further inspection Mecham found a bullet hole in the two animals.
The bull alone is worth $5,000 and the Mecham’s according to their Facebook post are now offering a reward of $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those involved.
