The new building for the Marysvale Baptist Church in Maysvale is now open.
The opening was celebrated with a dedication service on Saturday with a packed house.
People from Marysvile and other local baptist churches attended the dedication, which included several speeches and musical numbers.
The church has come a long way from it’s humble beginnings as a bar in 1996 when lawn chairs were used in place of pews and Sunday school was held on the floor.
Pastor Johnathan Edwards says they’ve grown a lot since that old building.
“And it’s kind of a picture of what God can do in the human heart–changing from one thing to another,” Edwards said. “The bible says if any man be in Christ, he’s a new creature. All things are passed away. Behold all things are become new. And our old building was a testament to that.”
Sunday was the fourth day of regular Sunday meetings in the new building.
