On Jan. 9, Sanpete County Sheriff’s Deputies, with the assistance of the Ephraim Police Department, was dispatched to a report of a male subject vandalizing property and making threats at the Senior Apartments in Manti. When police arrived, the man barricaded himself inside his apartment and started a small fire inside. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, residents of the complex were evacuated to a nearby shelter.” Deputies observed the subject holding items that appeared to be weapons and used less-lethal options to take the subject into custody. He was transported to the Gunnison Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Evacuated residents have since been allowed back into their homes. No further information is available at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
