On the night of Mar. 9 EMT’s, deputies, and Salina City officers responded to a call requesting help for a man who had been stabbed on a frontage road next to interstate 70 near mile post 68.
Steven Lowman, age 39, was driving with Robert Martin, age 48, when the two of them got into an altercation.
Martin stabbed Lowman several times in the chest, head, and back. After the assault Martin fled the scene.
Lowman was taken to the hospital and then later flown to Utah Valley for more care due to his injuries which are not currently life threatening.
Deputies searched the area through the night and eventually located Martin in a broken down motor home at the Gooseberry exit.
On Mar. 10 Detectives from the Sevier County Major Crimes unit arrested Robert W. Martin for attempted first degree murder.
Martin has a criminal history out of several states, including Montana. Martin is being held on a $500,000 bond pending a court appearance.
