Man in Millard County sentenced for June 20 shooting

Joshua Bear, age 19, was sentenced in the Fourth District Court Nov 20 for his actions in the June 20 shooting that occured in Delta.

Last week Bear pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated murder, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, theft by receiving stolen property, and obstruction of justice.

He was sentenced to Utah State Prison for five years to life for his first-degree felony and one to fifteen years for each of the second-degree felonies.

Sheriff Jacobson shared his feelings about this sentencing in a post on Facebook saying, “not lost on us, is the notion that the life of a young man has been lamentably altered through poor decision and criminal behavior. Thus remains a society’s challenge – a combined involvement in prevention in order to eliminate the need for a ‘cure.'”
