Man Charged For Giving Woman “Marijuana Candy” Prior To LDS Conference

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Utah)-Per a report from Kierra Dotson of ABC 4 Utah, a man has been charged with giving a woman “marijuana-laced candy” without revealing the ingredients to her prior to LDS Church General Conference earlier this spring.

The police report states the woman ate the candy prior to attending a session of General Conference and that the woman was staying in Salt Lake City at the man’s apartment.

The man who did this has been revealed as 23-year-old Hamuraby Moroni Mora and the police report states the two are friends.

The report further attests that the candy looked comparable to a Fruit roll-up. The woman then ate the candy with Mora, per the report, and then reportedly took a nap until she woke up panicked and feeling sick although she didn’t know why.

Initially, per the police report, the woman feared she may have been raped or sexually assaulted. After a hospital visit, the woman discovered the candy had marijuana in it.

Mora was eventually contacted by authorities, the police report states, while he gave them permission to search his apartment.

While the candy in question was never located, Mora admitted he received it from a friend who said it would help him sleep.

The probable cause document states Mora thought the candy contained melatonin but in December 2017, he pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana so he’d know the odor of it.

Mora was charged with one count of surreptitious administration of a substance.
