Man Arrested on Multiple Charges in Sevier County

On July 11, just before 7:30 p.m. Sevier County Deputies were dispatched to a stolen vehicle in the county. According to the victim he came out around 6:00 and noticed a silver truck parked just out of his property. He then noticed his truck was missing.

The missing truck matched the description of a vehicle that, just after 7:00 p.m., had hit the back of a camper trailer, causing the camper to come apart and spread debris across the two east bound lanes. The suspect in the stolen truck then continued east up Salina Canyon without stopping.

Officers and Troopers began to look for the vehicle, which was located on Soldier Canyon Road where the suspect had crashed it. Responding officers tracked the suspect to a nearby cabin. A window on the side of the cabin had a ladder up to it and appeared to have been forced open. Upon entry of the cabin the suspect was found in a bedroom, under the bed, trying to hide.

Officers recovered a handgun from where the suspect was hiding under the bed. This handgun later was determined by the owner to not belong to them. Several items on the coffee table and couch did not belong to the cabin owner. Items found included marijuana, drug paraphernalia, several knives, and other miscellaneous items.

Dominique Piele, age 22 from Colorado, was booked into the Sevier County Jail on seven different charges including theft of a vehicle, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, possession of marijuana and more.

In a post their Facebook page the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office shared their appreciation for all of the partner agencies who assisted and worked together to bring this case to a resolution.
