(Salt Lake City, UT) — One of the longtime state lawmakers who led efforts in Utah’s redistricting — Republican State Representative Paul Ray — says he’s resigning to take a job with the state. Ray had decided not to run for reelection when a post became available at the Utah Department of Health and Human Services. He’ll become the assistant director of legislative affairs for the department. Ray helped oversee the latest redistricting effort in Utah, which created controversy amid charges of gerrymandering to favor Republicans in future elections. Ray says the redistricting controversy was not a factor in his decision to resign
