There was tight security in Sixth District Court in Manti on Wednesday as Logan Wells McFarland changed his pleas in the deaths of Woody and Dorothy Fullwood from not guilty to guilty of first degree felony aggravated murder. McFarland admitted he killed the Mt. Pleasant couple in their home on December 30, 2011. As a result of the change of pleas, Sanpete County Attorney Brody Keisel agreed not to seek the death penalty. The Fullwood family packed the courtroom as McFarland appeared before Judge Marvin Bagley and was given two consecutive sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Keisel said the Fullwood family approved the plea agreement, and through his attorney, McFarland expressed remorse for the crime and said it was primarily fueled by his all consuming need for drugs. He also said he hoped the family would find closure. Judge Bagley remanded McFarland to the custody of the Sanpete County Sheriff for immediate transport to the Utah State Prison.
