(Salt Lake City, UT) — Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints President, Russell M. Nelson, is being honored with a prestigious peace prize from Morehouse College. The historically Black school in Atlanta announced on Monday it will present its Gandhi-King-Mandela Peace Prize to Nelson next month. The school said it’s honoring Nelson “for his global efforts in ‘abandoning attitudes and actions of prejudice against any group of God’s children’ though nonviolent ways.” The 98-year-old Nelson will not be at Morehouse College in person for the April 13th awards ceremony but will accept the award in a special broadcast, hosted by the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel on the Morehouse campus. A portrait of Nelson will be unveiled in the chapel’s Hall of Honor.
