Lawmakers Want To Solve School Lunch Debt For Students

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah lawmakers are looking for ways to solve school lunch debt. The total statewide meal debt during the 2022 to 2023 school year is more than one million dollars. Republican Representative Tyler Clancy says he’s drafting a bill that would provide easier access to free meals at schools. Clancy says he sees this as an opportunity for lawmakers to get in front of “generational challenges” they see across the state. Clancy is planning to present the bill during the 2024 legislative session.
