Lawmaker Proposals Crack Down For Illegally Placed Campaign Signs

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A state lawmaker wants to get rid of any political campaign signs that are placed on public property in a way that becomes hazardous. Republican State Senator Mike McKell plans to push legislation that would impose fines on campaigns that place their signs in public areas that obstruct the vision of a driver. Under current law, advertising in public areas along state roads is prohibited without the permission of UDOT. The change would affect state roads, as well as city streets and intersections where signs are often clustered together.
