(Lone Peak, UT) — A state senator is calling the vandalism of his home a “cowardly” attack on Utah principles. The vandalism of Republican Senator Mike Kennedy’s home was reported early Friday morning to police in Lone Peak. The senator posted pictures on social media that showed spray-painted messages apparently targeting Kennedy for his sponsorship of Senate Bill 16. The bill signed into law by Governor Cox banned gender-affirming surgeries and hormone therapy for transgender youth. Kennedy said he would not be intimidated by “radicals who seek to push their agenda in our state.” Equality Utah also criticized the vandalism, saying it doesn’t help LGBTQ Utahns build bridges and create “deeper understanding.”
